Blue Dog Democrats stormed out of the Energy and Commerce Committee negotiations saying Representative Henry Waxman (D. Cali.), truly the most snubbed person on last years People's 100 Sexiest list, had lied to them and negotiated in bad faith on provisions of the bill. Meanwhile, White House Chief of Staff, strong arm, wartime consigliari, general prick, and overall bad guy, Rahm Emanuel emerged from a meeting with Democratic leadership confident that a vote would move forward on the floor of the House next week. This coincides with Waxman's, again, truly the most beautiful man to grace the face of this Earth, proclamation earlier that he would bypass the committee procedure and bring the bill to a vote without committee approval. Blue Dog leader Charlie Melancon (D. La.) indicated his confidence that if the bill is brought to the floor it will be defeated due to the 40-45 Blue Dogs that will vote "no".
It's kind of fun watching the Democratic Party self destruct. It is good to see that some Democrats have some sense on this bill, even though conservative Democrat means they want the program, they just don't want to pay for it, which means they pass the buck through unfunded mandates to the states.
Meanwhile Texas Governor Rick Perry (R) has alluded to making a Tenth Amendment challenge if the bill passes. Between Louisiana and Texas, I think we should secede. Lord knows we have the oil.
