Remember now, Blue Dog "fiscally conservative" Democrats are just those that don't want the federal government paying the tab. So now, it appears that they are reaching a compromise to support the health care reform legislation currently before the House, having pared it down to a measly $900 billion dollars over 10 years. How did they come to shave a full 10% off the bill so that these "fiscally conservative" people would sign on, you ask? Well, they are going to squeeze additional money out of Medicare by empowering a panel to review treatments to keep costs down (unless Congress acts to give an alternative recomendation, so your Congressman or this panel will be responsible for people's individual treatment options). Happy death day, Grandma!! No heart bypass for you, take the blue pill and shut up. The rest of the savings would come from driving private insurers out of business by regulating the living crap out of them, forcing people into the government plans. Wait, that doesn't make any sense at all! None of this does though, unless you look at it from the perspective that now, the government will have a reason to control what you eat, how you exercise and every other little aspect of your life.
