As Europe develops their reserves of shale gas (which we refuse to allow forcing drilling to go thousands of feet deep like oh, say, certain BP rigs, thanks, environmentalists!) and begs Russia to remain invested in the Euro, a thought occurs to me. OK, two thoughts. The first is: Dear, God, the last thing the world needs is an increasingly anti-American Europe and a Russia falling faster and faster into a modified despotism similar to its former Soviet ways with an American President who is an apologist and has all the spine of an earth worm with regard to foreign policy. The second thought is: it seems that every nation that currently remains prosperous has little or no restrictions on the use of its own natural resources, specifically oil. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (D. should be federal prison) recently complained that rich people, who pay roughly 90% of the federal tax burden, don't pay their fair share (the comments to the article on Politico, which is a pretty middle of the road site, are just about universally critical of her position), citing Brazil as having a high tax burden and prosperous economy. This is the same Brazil that the current administration threw $2 billion dollars to develop their oil drilling prospects. The corporate recipient, Petrobas, is, not suprisingly, partially owned by George Soros, or as he is known amongst superheros, Captain Evil Douchebag. From the dates of the announcements, it appears Soros bought in just a few short days before the administration announced the investment. Did I just stumble across another criminal act of the administration? Brazil is a large energy exporter due to its development of oil. Russia is prospering, at least in some manner, from its energy exports. The middle east has no idea there is a recession, except for Dubai and it's tourist industry. And so I say drill, baby, drill.
In the United Kingdom's parlimentary system, the opposing coalition or party often refers to itself as the shadow government. Under Barack Obama and previous government expansionist presidents, democracy itself has become the shadow government, the party of opposition laying in wait in the hope that it can take over some day.

This is Scary
David Horowitz, an original member of the "New Left" movement and son to two communist parents who eventually rejected radicalism to become a conservative, writes and speaks about Muslim organizations spreading hatred on college campuses. Horowitz was speaking at University of California San Diego when a student speaking flawless English, likely raised in the United States, dressed in traditional Islamic garb, had this exchange with Horowitz (note to Don, it helps to watch the video). It is chilling to hear her lean forward and very deliberately say "for it."
An Absolute Must Read
Anita Moncrief, a former ACORN insider, wrote this essay on President Obama, ACORN and stealth socialism. It is, as noted in the title, an absolute must read.

Update on Our Infant Emperor
It looks like the press agrees with me. Human Events editor John Gizi details press complaints about the "juvenile" President in this article. Of course, one of the complaints is an "Obama want a cracker" moment as he, too, blamed the Bush admistration for the BP oil spill. I can just see President Obama doing a Viagra ad in 20 years talking about how President Bush caused his erectile dysfunction.
And Democrats Gave This a Standing Ovation
When Mexican President Felipe Calderon addressed Congress and whined about Arizona's new anti-illegal immigration law, most Democrats stood and applauded, presumably because they feel a foreign head of state whose country directly benefits from billions of dollars sent back across the border by illegals, has a more valid opinion on the matter than the approximately 70% of Arizonans who favor the law (not to mention the over 6 in 10 Americans who view the law and its specific aspects favorably). But then, hey, when has this Congress ever bothered with what the public thinks.
Earlier this week in what was a bald-faced PR move with absolutely no real efffect or intention, President Obama announced he was sending 1,200 National Guard troops to the border..............to do paperwork and absolutely, positively not enforce immigration law. This non-move by the President was met with the type of derision appropriate for moronic measures. The Mexican government advised its people that they should continue to feel free to roam on across the border as the troops are not there to enforce immigration laws. This is how little respect Mexico has for both the President and the border.
Pelosi Want a Cracker?
Another Democratic parrot has squawked the company line. This time House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D. Cal.) piped up to blame the Bush administration for the BP oil spill. How anyone takes this woman seriously is beyond my comprehension.

Congratulations, Mr. President! You're a Felon!
Questions have been swirling for months regarding Democratic Senate candidate Joe Sestak's remarks that he was offered a job to drop out of the race against outgoing Senator Arlen Specter (whatever party he thinks he can get reelected with, Pa.). See, the thing is, it is a felony to offer anything of value in return for him dropping out of the race. The White House, after having ducked the question for some time, has now issued a statement that Chief of Staff Rahm %"&#^ Emanual asked former President Bill Clinton to explore whether or not Sestak would drop out of the race in exchange for a prominent, unpaid advisory position with the White House. Despite being unpaid, the job has an incredible amount of intrinsic value and would likely lead to a well-paid private sector position due to the opportunities it would open. Also, the statute is broad enough to criminalize the promise of "any benefit". Luckily, President Clinton is already a disbarred, impeached, felon, so he really can't take too much of a hit here (speaking of which, the Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, was also disbarred...ah the ethics). That the White House admits Rahm Emmanuel was involved makes it clear the President was involved, as the Chief of Staff isn't going to just run off on his own. The only question left in my mind is: will this lead to impeachment? I can only hope so, if for no other reason than to see Joe Biden have to give speeches on a regular basis. Dan Quayle would appear downright scholarly by comparison.
Oh, I Wish I Were an Oscar Meyer Weiner
If you haven't been following this story already, Congressman Anthony Weiner (D. NY) has gone after conservative radio show hosts, and specifically Glenn Beck, for promoting Goldline, a company that sells gold in the form of molded coins rather than buying a paper certificate in the metal commodity, as many other companies do. I have never heard of a government official initiating an investigation into false advertising which implicates the people who carry the advertisements or, as is often the case on radio, speak personally about the product. This is really disturbing behavior and smacks of a backdoor attempt to censor political speech, which the Supreme Court has consistently held as the category of speech deserving of the highest protection. Keep in mind, Weiner directly implicated only "conservative talk radio" hosts, though he might have also mentioned FOX News.
Luckily, Glenn Beck isn't the easiest target and has fought back with weinerfacts.com, a fun little website that rebukes Mr. Weiner's premises. In the end, though, this kind of attack on free speech cannot be tolerated from public officials.

I Know Birds That Have a More Extensive Vocabulary Than Democrats
It was bound to happen. Outgoing Senator Chris Dodd (D. Conn.) (outgoing as in he retired because he knew he was going to lose) was on the Don Imus show Tuesday morning. Dodd, as you may remember, is the famously top slice of bread in the Ted Kennedy waitress sandwich and was under fire for receiving a sweetheart deal from Nationwide Mortgage. Dodd, upstanding human being and purveyor of truth and righteousness did what most Democrats must have been itching to do. He blamed former President George Bush. Don Imus' response was pretty good. Personally, I'm pretty sure it would have been appropriate to give Dodd a cracker since he and most other Democrats seem to simply be parrots screeching "GEORGE BUSH" at every opportunity.
Unmitigated Stupidity
The Telegraph, a newspaper in the United Kingdom, is detailing how the money supply in the United States is contracting at rates not seen since the Great Depression. Banks are receiving a mixed message as the administration decries the lack of lending while at the same time forcing them to carry more cash in reserves to prevent and sort of collapse. How are you supposed to lend more money and keep more money on hand at the same time?
In the meantime, the idiots running around still worshipping John Maynard Keynes and his economic theories that have been debunked over and over and over (simple logic experiment, if government spending is economically stimulative, why wouldn't we just constantly spend money and thrive?) are urging another stimulus bill. This is a path that Democrats, afraid of losing their majority in November, are all too anxious to accommodate. I tremble to think what they will do if they become a lame duck Congress.
In the end, this may be the greatest historical example of the abject failure of leadership by "intellectuals" (I use quotes because I personally think they are blind idiots). Only a moron sees an oil leak and talks about his Nobel prize winning physicist turned bureaucrat is on top of it when an engineer with some field experience is best suited to the job.

Vice President Biden Shows Again Liberal Thinking on America
Vice President Joe Biden (D. Hair Club for Men) was recently speaking in Brussels, Belgium, where he brushed off America as being anything special. Mr. Biden noted that, while Washington, D.C. and the United States of America are traditionally thought of as the capitol of the free world (which I'm almost certain still exists somewhere), he believes that Brussels has a legitimate claim to that title. Brussels. Really. The home of international government and its resulting destruction of local sovereignty is the capitol of the free world? This is just another example of the underlying motivation behind much of what liberals think and why they look to foreign shores for governance. They do not believe there is anything special about our government or our nation. This is why they have to "fundamentally change" the nation they claim to love. I think Glenn Beck said it best when he made the analogy of telling your wife you love her, then try telling her that even though you love her, you'd like to fundamentally change her. I'm sure that will go over well.

As far as a sarcastic title on the whole Joe Sestak issue, I couldn't have done better myself. Keep in mind here, we are talking about a felony to offer something of value in exchange for a candidate not running. If Sestak was offered the Secretary of the Navy job to drop out of the race, not only should the President be impeached, he MUST be.

Our Infant Emperor
As most of my readers i.e. two of the three, know, sometime around October of 2008 I was watching then candidate Barack Obama give a speech on a train. He seemed so incredibly petulant and condescending that I texted three people with the words "We are so f**cked", mostly because I was certain that he was going to win. It seems every day since then, the President has done nothing but reinforce my impression of him as a spoiled grown up with an overblown sense of entitlement.
Today, the President was quoted as telling aides to "Plug the damn hole" and has been described as showing his increasing frustration. By itself, this wouldn't really be worthy of note. However, the President took the time to meet with Republicans yesterday who, it seems, he expected to kiss the ground he walked on. When Republicans did what opposing parties do, he got testy. Senator Pat Roberts (R. Kan.) said he needed to take a valium and was pretty thin skinned (in related news, Vegas is expected to post odds on how long it will take for someone to try to make that a racist statement (Obama is expected to tell the country not to go to Vegas to take the bet)).
Again, taken in isolation, these things aren't all that worthy of note, but in the context of a man who snaps at reporters and has basically stopped taking questions (he ironically signed the Freedom of the Press Act and refused to take questions afterward last week.)
I'm curious to see if at some point he will actually just lose his cool. I suspect he is a very different person than the calm, cool, collected man the media portrays him to be.
Classless
President Barack Obama is headed for another vacation, returning to Chicago for Memorial Day weekend. It's his second since the Deep Horizon rig went deep. Now I think I've said it before, and I will say it again; I'm not going to begrudge the President for taking vacation. It's not your average job and I highly doubt there is such a think as a vacation that doesn't still involve significant work.
No, my problem is that our President felt it was more important to escape to Chicago rather than participate in ceremonies honoring the men and women who have sacrificied their lives in the service of our country. He is making time to help fundraise for Senator Barbara Boxer (D. Cali.), who has shown her personal lack of respect for the military. The Drudge Report is also reporting that the President will luckily make it back in time for the Paul McCartney concert. What kind of message does this send to our troops? What kind of message does this send to anyone?

Financial Reform Bill Will Institutionalize the Causes of the Housing Crisis
As I believe has been discussed ad nauseum, the main cause of the housing bubble and its subsequent collapse was the reform bills signed into law under President Bill Clinton which allowed (and subsequently Democrats forced) Fannie Mae and Fredie Mac to engage in moronic lending practices such as granting loans to anyone with a heartbeat. Now, Senator Judd Gregg (R. N.H.) has called the Financial Reform Bill a "disaster" and has stated that the provisions will force Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to make loans on the basis of social justice rather than ability to actually repay the loans. Everyone who voted for this Bill and is up for reelection should be voted out of office. This is ridiculous. Financial reform now means scoring political points against Wall Street and making sure the cause of the problem is repeated? Our Congress has less sense than an anencephalic infant.
I Could Learn to Love Jan Brewer
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer (R.) is apparently even more frustrated than I am that seemingly every administration official who has criticized the new Arizona anti-ILLEGAL immigration law (notice that the critics alwas call it anti-immigration (control the language, control the argument)) has admitted they haven't even read it. So how do you encourage someone to read? Puppets. It worked for me growing up watching Sesame Street. Let's see if the three year olds in the administration will respond to this hillarious video put out by the Governor. I may have to donate to her campaign.

A Scene From the Instructional Documentary "Arguing Like a Liberal"
Scene begins: Gentleman #1 enters diner with noticeable campaign pin of local conservative candidate. Sits at counter next to man # 2 wearing campaign pin of local liberal candidate.
Conservative: So, what's good here?
Liberal: The blackened redfish.
Conservative: Oh, well I don't like spicy.
Liberal: Why do you hate the gays?
Conservative: Pardon? Well, I think this chicken dish looks good.
Liberal: They don't serve chicken here.
Conservative: But it's right here on the menu.
Liberal: I've never read the menu, but I'm positive they don't serve chicken here.
Conservative: Well it looks good. I think I'll get it.
Liberal: Racist.
At this point, the surrounding diners, having heard none of the conversation, are suddenly aroused by the mention of the word racist.
Conservative: Racist? Where the hell do you get that?
Liberal: You didn't want to get the blackened dish.
Conservative: What? I....
Liberal: Facsist pig, forcing this restaurant which clearly has never served chicken to make you chicken.
Conservative: Seriously, man, it's on the menu, look.
Liberal: See!! (Pointing animatedly at Conservative and voice raising to address the crowd) This fascist, racist, homophobe wants to push his menu down the rest of us!!!
Conservative (Pleading to the crowd): Wait, no, I'm no racist or homophobe, I just don't like spicy food and I ordered something else of the menu. I don't know what's going on here.
Crowd: Racist! Homophobe! Facsist!
Conservative (to waitress): I'll have the f**cking blackened redfish.
And scene.

When Incompetence Just Won't Do the Trick
As if it wasn't bad enough that Washington, D.C. has failed miserably in securing our southern border, resulting in Arizona taking the steps it has recently, now, incompetence just won't do the trick. If Arizona detains someone in the country illegally, ICE may just refuse to process them. These people need to be fired en masse.

Cap and Trade is Dead, Long Live Cap and Trade!
Kerry and Lieberman are on the prowl trying to backdoor the Cap and Trade bill. As with all politicians who find an issue unpopular, they've simply renamed it. It is Cap and Trade under a different name. I'll update this later with links and more analysis.
Mr. Holder, Do You Have a Clue? No, Sir, No I Don't
Attorney General Eric Holder who has been running around on the Sunday talk shows talking about how he's going to sue Arizona over the illegal immigration law (which tracks the language of the federal law) testified before Congress today. When asked if he had read the Arizona law, Mr. Holder replied that he hadn't, but he had managed to skim it. It's 16 pages. That's pathetic.

Today's Recommended Reading
It's admittedly a long article and it's from 2007, but this FOX News piece on Maurice Strong is a profile of one of the creepiest guys in the world. Glenn Beck just started talking about him today and he is still apparently lurking around in the background.
Once Again Circumventing the Constitution
President Obama and his creepy administration that wants to control everything are again ignoring constitutional restraints on power. You may remember that the administration's "debt commission" was voted down by the Senate. The President's reaction, he just went right ahead and created it by executive order. Back in April, a federal appeals court ruled that the FCC did not have the authority to enact President Obama's "net neutrality" program. So what does the administration do? The FCC is now poised to reclassify the Internet as a public utility by calling it a telephone system in order to backdoor the program.
You cannot turn your back on this administration or they will slip the knife right in. They believe their ideas of social justice entitle them to unlimited power and the righteous duty to enact their ideas regardless of whatever restraints might stand in their way. President Obama believes he should have unfettered power over every aspect of life to ensure his vision of equality. If neither the courts nor the legislature are able to restrain the activities of the executive, constitutional safeguards are dead and liberty in this country is under serious threat.

Quick, Who is More Responsible, a Democrat With a Printing Press or a Child in a Candy Store With a Credit Card
If you answered the Democrat, it may be time to start considering going to rehab. Democrats are sent to send another $200 billion in deficit spending packages to President Obama for approval. Amazingly, they still seem to think blaming Republicans for deficits is a good strategy. The CBO projects the Obama deficits to be a high of $1.5 trillion this year and $1 trillion per year over the next day. Pot.....kettle.....black?
Rick Santellli Rides to the Rescue Again
CNBC on-air editor Rick Santelli unleashed on claims that Democrats couldn't reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac because it was too complicated. Santelli, you may remember, was probably more famous for suggesting Chicago have a tea party back before the movement got started. It's hard to blame him here. I can't believe a Democrat says Fannie and Freddie are too complicated to reform. Of course, health care, the entire financial system, the insurance industry, banks, financial investment firms, automobile manufacturers and cicrcumvention of the Constitution all seem to have been sufficiently simple Democratic targets. I can't imagine why they wouldn't want to mess with their pet financial twins, Freddie and Fannie.
Next Bailout, the Moon!!
Think Europe is floating their own bailout package? Think again. The United States is on the hook in a big way, floating the money to Europe through currency exchanges and the IMF. So congratulations! We all own part of Europe. I had no idea when President Obama said he wanted to double exports at the State of the Union he meant sending twice as much money overseas. With the vast majority of Americans opposed to every bailout plan that has occurred so far, I can see why they kept this one under their hats.

California Apparently No Longer Part of the United States
A teacher at a California public school told a 13 year old student that her drawing of the American flag with the words "God Bless America" on it was offensive. Meanwhile a student who drew a picture of President Barack Obama was praised. God and the flag are offensive but the President isn't? Having seen over a year of his policies and actions in office, I'm pretty sure that one is backwards.

I'm not sure this is actually from Arizona Governor Jan Brewer's office as it seems unlikely a governor would take such a direct tactic against a sitting president, but even if it is a YouTube fabrication, it's pretty effective. Here is the supposed advertisement.

Democrats, Touching Every Aspect of Your Life
Senator Richard Shelby (R. Al.) who is the senior Republican on the Senate Banking Committee has expressed concerns that the new financial regulatory bill has provisions which allow the federal government to collect any information at any time from any financial institution and force individuals to respond to questions about their financial transactions under oath. Liberals might want to start looking up the definition of liberal. It certainly doesn't include notions of Big Brother watching everyone. Whoever wrote this portion of the bill is sick and should resign in disgrace.
When Patriotism is an Assault on the Values of Others
I just heard a blurb on the news that national donught day is next month. The holiday might actaully be more legitimate than Cinco de Mayo. And yet, hispanic students apparently felt the need to walk out of class in protest of people wearing the American flag on May 5. This really is some of the most ridiculous shit I have ever heard. I wonder if any of them asked the school to take down the American flag that day...they do still fly one at schools, don't they?
Just in Case You Still Thought the President Respects You
President Obama, who I personally feel has made clear his disdain for the average American and his or her ability to run their own life, has been revealed again as a condescending elitist. Yesterday, White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs had to duck questions about the President's use of the derogatory "teabagger" reference to the Tea Parties. Remeber, this is the same person who, during the campaign, dismissed Pennsylvanians as clinging to religion and thier guns. At what point will people begin to lose respect for the office of President when it is so obvious that he does not respect the people? I should hope we don't, but I find it increasingly likely consideering we're only about 1/3 of the way through his first (and God willing, only) term.

Was it Just Opposite Day
Cinco de Mayo, which is not a holiday in Mexico and is a strong candidate for the theory that Corona made up the damned holiday, is apparently so precious to hispanic culture in America that teens were sent home from school for wearing the colors of the American flag. What offensive bastard! Daring to wear the colors of our national flag! Here, in our nation! F**king morons run this world.

Government Motors Indeed
GM, which has recently been running commercials bragging about how they have paid back the government loan that kept them afloat, is taking a page from the President Obama handbook by distracting with one hand so you don't notice what the other is doing. While it is true that they paid off the loan, they did so without paying off the equity stake which the government bought. So, of nearly $50 million dollars in loans, they really paid off less than $7 million. Keep in mind, the head of GM is the hand-picked man of the administration. This sort of dishonesty is rampant in modern politics (yes, GM is politics as it is run by our government) and it is the sort of thing that must be discarded if we are ever going to move forward.
Nazi Shot by Helpless Innocent Person Who Was Just Looking for Work
I've taken my time waiting to post anything on the Arizona illegal immigrant law. I wanted to be sure I understood the implications of how it was written and exactly what was going on in Arizona first. Call me crazy, I like to be informed before I go off half cocked (ahem, Mr. President). Arizona has a serious problem and it's not about a lack of jobs or too many gardeners. Arizona has become the kidnapping capitol of the the United States and is second only to Mexico City in the world all because of Mexican drug traffic. Yesterday, a sheriff was shot by another group of drug dealers.
But if you ask the Open Borders movement and much of the left, the Arizona law is reminiscent of Nazi's persecuting Jews and requiring them to carry their papers, Apartheid and Jim Crow laws. At least one Republican is stupid enough to have made the comparison as well. Even if the Arizona law was what they claim it is, this comparison is both offensive and ignorant. President Barack Obama, who apparently is the most ignorant lawyer on the planet, has claimed that olive skinned people going to get ice cream are likely to be harassed as a result of the law. It's good to know he's more than just a bad President.
Having looked at the text of the law, it requires that a law enforcement officer make a probable cause stop prior to ever developing a reasonable suspicion on the immigration status of the subject. In other words, if you see a guy at the Lowe's parking lot looking for a construction job at the corner with 30 other people who everyone on the planet knows are likely illegals, that is not sufficient reason for the officer to ask them to produce identification, or, as the Nazi calling morons say, papers. Ask yourself, do you feel as if you are supposed to have your driver's license on you at all times? Do you expect that other people will have some form of identification? My understanding is that most states require all adults to carry some form of identification. Not only that, federal law makes being in the country without proper ID a crime.
So what is this outrage from the left really all about? Why is the rhetoric about racism and job envy when the truth is there is an all out drug war in Mexico bleeding into the southern states? There are a number of reasons. Liberals and conservatives alike want control of the Hispanic voting bloc and both believe that immigration and amnesty are ways to coax that vote. I believe there is a far more powerful incentive on the left.
Unions have long been supporters of amnesty for illegal immigrants. How does this make sense? Aren't the union leaders there to protect the jobs of their dues paying members? Unions have negotiated deals that are not only anti-business, but have become so bloated as to be unsustainable. Pension fund liabilities and health care costs have been driving up the costs of unions. Much like social security and medicare, more retirees are receiving benefits than people are paying into the system, creating an unfunded liability nightmare. But, if you can legally bring in a whole new class of millions of workers, suddenly you have hundreds of millions of dollars in new dues paying union members and the unfunded liability becomes funded again. At least for a while. This is the same reason union leaders were so gung ho on the health care bill. They have the great health care plans, but if they could kick members onto the government teat, there goes a major expense.
Polls vary, but most show a greater that 2 to 1 support nationally for the Arizona law. The left, morons that they are, are loudly protesting to the point that some have called for a boycott of Arizona Iced Tea, which is made in New York. But then, logic has always been the enemy of the left.
