The New Open Administration

The White House is delaying the release of the budget update, typically released in July, until August. Now what could be the motivation for that? Well, unemployment and deficits are expected to be reported as much higher than in President Obama's budget projections, i.e., there's going to be bad news. President Obama wants health care legislation by the end of the month. It's pretty obvious that President Obama wants to try and push through health care reform before the country realized exactly how much it cannot be afforded. Voila!! The new "open" administration, the most transparent in history, that President Obama promised. The only thing that is transparent about this administration is how little it cares about economic realities and how beholden it is to the social reforms it wants to implement and how little it wants the public to really know what it is doing.
