Dear Mr. Friedman, Despite Your Nobel Prize We Think We'll Go This Route

Milton Friedman, Nobel Prize winning economist and personal hero of mine, campaigned against the minimum wage, dispelling the myth that it is a good thing. Congress, never a body that has cared much for real economics, and that is by no means something new to this administration and in fact the bill was passed in 2007 (though this administration insists that no one disagrees with its moronic economics even when hundreds of economists sign a letter and publish it saying they disagree, but I digress) has decided, in the midst of high unemployment and payroll cuts, that now is a good time to jack up the minimum wage to $7.25 per hour. Ready for that $400.00 coke at your local convenience store? Let's see, that's only $.70 increase, or approximately 15% or so (somebody check my math on that). Obviously, in times like this when the economy is booming there is no sense in revisiting what was an idiotic law at the time and continues to be one. Repeal, anyone? Admittedly, I'm just jealous because the guy at the drive through window is soon going to be making as much as I do without the crushing student loan debt.
