What's Happening? (2009)

Rerun is back!!! Oh, sorry, wrong show.

I didn't really agree with this guy's tactics when I first saw him loudly getting in a Congressman's face about his son with cerebal palsy. Though I've posted befoe about the hypocrisy of Democrats complaining about a tactic they've worshipped, I prefer calm debates with the anger coming in the form of shouts of agreement or clapping when a point is made. That said, I also don't discount the passion that is out there right now and appreciate those feelings. Just don't go shouting "read the bill" for an hour without listening to see whether or not they've read the bill.
That said, what changed my mind about this particular person was when I heard an interview which him that explains why he was shouting. It seems, and the video appears to support it that this occurred at the end of the meeting, unlike what the previous link would have you believe. It seems that questions were submitted in writing by the crowd and none were allowed to speak. The organizers picked out the questions they would answer, basically putting on a show. There were also some who were allowed to come behind the door behind him in the video, to have further open discussion while the others were left out. That is when the father, who was concerned his son would not be given any treatment under the reforms, began to confront the Congressman, as he wasn't allowed to speak for his son during the allotted time. It also explains his emotion when he's talking about the right to speak on his behalf.
I'm not sure what to say about this other than ask: what is left to a democratic society when the representative, who is a servant, feels he is above those who empower him, and indeed, feels his opinion is above theirs.
