Come Fly With Me

The House Appropriations Committee was requested to purchase a single Gulfstream Jet by the Air Force at $65 million but instead approved three at $200 million so that two would be available to ferry about our most esteemed Members of Congress and other top government officials. The purchase was not called an earmark, so the purchase order is essentially anonymous. These are the same people who excoriated CEOs of the big three automakers for flying to a congressional hearing from Detroit. But then, the CEOs were only asking for taxpayer money at that time, Congress already has it to waste.
