Al Franken Shows the Class and Style Which Has Epitomized His Career

Senator Al Franken (D., Minn.) was chairing the Senate as debate was being held on the health care bill. Senator Joe Lieberman (I., Conn.) was speaking about amendments he was planning to offer to the bill. Sen. Lieberman had prattled on for 10 minutes when Sen. Franken cut him off saying he'd reached the limit. Lieberman requested the customary unanimous consent to an extra few moments to wrap up. When no voice in the chamber could be heard to object, Sen. Franken (who I am convinced stole the Minnesota election with the help of ACORN) raised the objection in his capacity as Senator to cut off Lieberman. The reaction from both Lieberman and Senator John McCain (R. AZ) shows how unprecedented this kind of thing is. Of course, Al Franken is just living up to his reputation.
