Representative Steny Hoyer's Salute to Illiteracy

Let Freedom Ring has circulated a pledge to members of Congress asking that they simply pledge to read legislation before passing it. Fox News reports that upon hearing of the pledge, House Majority Leader, Rep. Steny Hoyer (D. Maryland), laughed and said if everyone read the laws, there would be very few votes. Is this really the manner in which we want our elected officials to act, by ridiculing the notion that they should read the crap they are voting for? But then, this just confirms how the democrats have been doing business since January, withholding bills from review, last minute 300 page amendments, and breaking their own party leader's pledge to post the bills online for citizens to review prior to votes as well as letting the bill sit on the President's desk for five days prior to signing. This is disturbing behavior to say the least.

UPDATE:

I beat Michelle Malkin to the punch.
