Former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman announced his bid for President yesterday in front of the Statue of Liberty (doing a painful disservice to Ronald Reagan) yesterday. I was already dubious about Huntsman, President Obama's ambassador to China, but when Senate Majority Leader Harry Ried (D. NV) said he would favor Huntsman over Mitt Romney, and the fact that his family gave Ried's campaign $25,000.00 last year...well, that sealed the deal. Obviously, you won't see me supporting Huntsman much unless I'm forced to after the primaries.
In other news, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich continues his slow, painful, yet totally appropriate, demise. I posted before on my thoughts that Newt should have already resigned from the campaign. Apparently my opinion is shared by his campaign staff. First, his entire Iowa staff resigned. Then, yesterday, his fundraising staff resigned. I am guessing he'll be out by the second or third primary state, if not earlier.
So far, I'm rooting against Romney, Gingrich, and Huntsman. The rest of the field hasn't disappointed me as of this time and I'm looking forward to see if Representative Thaddeus McCotter (R. MI) throws his hat in the race. If nothing else, his appearances on "Red Eye" have shown that he is hilarious. Hell, he may even be funnier than me.
