Speculation is that President Obama is going to use Tuesday's televised address from the Oval Office, a location typically used to ramp up the importance of the message and never previously utilized by this President, to present the case for cap and trade again. It's unlikely he'll call it that, but his version of an "energy bill" will include "pricing" carbon emissions. In fact, he already mentioned this in a previous speech. By pricing, the President means instituting a tax on emissions above a government set amount. In order to minimize tax penalties, carbon offsets would be sold on a market. The market has already been set up and it is called the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) and is advertised as a voluntary pilot program. In case the fact that it is based in Chicago didn't give you pause (and Chicago is a legitimate financial center, second only to Wall Street), let's take a look at who stands to gain from the massive influx of cash that would result from a cap and trade policy to the CCX.
The Joyce Foundation, a progressive group that allows donors to essentially launder donations to multiple progressive fronts, provided the founding initial grant to start the program. The Joyce Foundation provided funding to Bill Ayers', American terrorist and Obama friend, brother. Barack Obama was on the Board of Directors. Another Board member is Maurice Strong. If you don't remember him, please read the previous post and link here. He's a wonderful guy who once had Saddam Hussein as an investor. Another supporter and person influencing the CCX, Al Gore. As we all know the Goracle is the modern prophet and profiteer of global warming. One of the chief stockholders of the CCX is Goldman Sachs. The Chairman is the uber-corrupt Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, a man synonymous with the political machine in Chicago notorious for its political cronyism. This is all detailed, not in an American paper of course, but in an article in the Canadian Free Press, published over a year ago. I highly recommend reading it, here.
President Obama has famously noted that he'd rather be a good President than be a multiple term President. The structures that this administration is trying to put in place are designed to far outlive the terms of office they are serving. Talk about taking the fun out of fundamentally changing America.
